NFL Draft Pick by Pick Analysis Round 2

2nd round:
33.) New England Patriots: Ras-I Dowling CB, Virginia
- Going into the season Dowling looked like a definite first round Corner back. After breaking his foot late in the year and suffering small injuries he saw his stock drop a little bit. At 33 the Patriots could not pass up on Dowling who is a tall lengthy corner back who can be physical enough at the line of scrimmage and fight for the ball. He is a solid pick and could slide into a nickel role for the Patriots early then play outside corner later in the year
34.) Buffalo Bills: Aaron Williams CB, Texas
-Another first round caliber CB quickly has his name called in Round 2. Williams appears to be more of a safety in the NFL, but he can be a very good one. A bit of a tweener but has shown some good man to man cover skills and is tough vs. the run. The Bills need help all over their defense and Williams can step in right away and start after working out and really bulking up as a Safety
35.) Cincinnati Bengals: Andy Dalton QB, TCU
- Dalton is one of my favorites in this years draft class, and he was a high commodity late in the first round by teams looking to trade up. He is a intelligent QB who has a good but not great arm, can make good reads and make is improving his accuracy. He still needs time to develop his accuracy and decision making more but the Bengals get their replacement for Palmer and teaming Dalton with A.J Green sets up a deadly combo.
36.)(TRADE) San Francisco 49ers: Colin Kaepernick QB, Nevada
- In my opinion one of the most underrated guys coming into the draft is Kaepernick. He has a very strong arm and also has shown the ability to get out of the pocket or make the accurate read. The 49ers desperately wanted him and by trading up with Denver they get their guy. Alex Smith is not the answer in San Francisco but while he struggles Harbaugh can help Kaepernick develop into a very good QB.
37.) Cleveland Browns: Jabaal Sheard DE, Pittsburgh
- The Browns continue to build their new young stout defense. Sheard is a strong defensive end and can stop the run and can also get to the QB with his nice swim moves. He is the perfect piece for the Browns new 4-3 defense and will significantly improve the DL play from a year ago
38.) Arizona Cardinals: Ryan Williams RB, Virginia Tech
-The Cardinals skip over Ryan Mallet and take one of the most electrifying RB's in this class. He saw his stock drop a little this year after nagging injuries and a drop in production. The Cardinals may lose Tim Hightower to FA and Beanie Wells is injury prone. Interesting thing is, Williams biggest knack was injury so this could put them in same situation.
39.) Tennessee Titans: Akeem Ayers OLB, UCLA
-The Titans needed help at the OLB position and Akeem Ayers is a very good piece to add. A very athletic player who can get after the QB. He needs to work on his strength, defending the run. He can start for the Titans and give them some help on defense.
40.) Dallas Cowboys: Bruce Carter OLB, North Carolina.
-The Dallas Cowboys pick up another great player, but at a position that isn't a high need Carter was a top prospect before he tore his ACL late in the year. Carter is a good OLB who can rush the passer while also is good against the run. I'm not sure where the Cowboys sue him, but it just adds another great piece to a defense that needs it.
41.) Washington Redskins: Jarvis Jenkins DE, Clemson
-Jarvis Jenkins probably never thought he would go before his teammate Da'quan Bowers, but that is exactly what happened. Jenkins is stout against the run, and is a big player on the line. He will provide the Redskins help to finally do something against the run
42.) Houston Texans: Brooks Reed OLB, Arizona
-The Texans continue to add on to their new 3-4 defense. Brooks Reed is an energizer bunny for a LB. Treats every play like it is his last, and uses his energy and hustle to get to the QB. He will help the Texans by giving them another pass rusher and could give teams some problems with Mario Williams and Brooks Reed
43.) Minnesota Vikings: Kyle Rudolph TE, Notre Dame
-Visanthe Shiancoe is in  a contract year and behind him the Vikings have nothing. Rudolph is a very talented TE who has the tools to be one of the best in the league. He has to show he can consistently produce at the next level and avoid injuries throughout his career. He gives rookie QB Cristian Ponder another nice target to throw to
44.) Detroit Lions Titus Young WR, Boise State
-The Lions add a Percy Harvin like wide reciever in Titus Young. Young is someone who can excel as a returner and also turn a short pass play into a game breaking TD. He gives Matthew Stafford another weapon along side Megatron. The only question though is how does he get time to get the ball to them.
45.) (TRADE) Denver Broncos: Rahim Moore S, UCLA
-Rahim Moore is a range rover safety who can go anywhere on the field at any given time. He has shown some man to man skills and can help cover a receiver when needed. The Broncos need an eventual safety to replace Brian Dawkins
46.) (TRADE)  Denver Broncos Orlando Franklin OG, Miami
-The Broncos need to help protect Tim Tebow if he is their future QB. Franklin is a big athletic OG, who has shown to be a tough nasty player. With the Broncos not seeing good play out of the LG position, they could give Franklin the chance to start there.
47.) St. Louis Rams Lance Kendricks TE, Wisconsin
-Sam Bradford showed last year he is going to be one of the elite QB's in the NFL. If the Rams want to help him get there, he is going to need more weapons. Lance Kendricks is someone who can be a producer as a receiving option and gives Stafford someone to look to on 3rd down. He is not skilled as a blocker though, so he is more of a receiving option then blocking TE

48.) Oakland Raiders: Stefen Wisniewski OC, Penn State
-The Raiders follow the bloodline and fill a need with the same pick. Stefen Wisniewski who;s uncle Steve Wisniewski is an assistant offensive line coach for the Raiders, is a good guard prospect. he has good inside strength and can take Robert Gallerys spot at Guard
49.) (TRADE) Indianapolis Colts Benjamin Ijalana OT, Wisconsin
-Ijalana is a good blocker who has the size and strength you look for in a G/T. The Colts desperately needed help at the OL position and Ijalana brings that. Questions remain about the competition he went up against and if he can recover from injury, but he is a good player
50.) San Diego Chargers: Marcus Gilchrist CB, Clemson
-Marcus Gilchrist is a universal player that can play well on the outside or as a safety. He has shown that he can be a good player a any position in the secondary. He can also provide solid depth at multiple positions for the Chargers.
51.) Tampa Bay Buccaneers: Da'quan Bowers DE, Clemson
-Bowers fall finally ended by going to the Buccaneers in the 2nd round. Bowers had serious questions about knee issues but fears that he is a "one contract player" scared teams off. The Bucs are willing to take the risk and felt comfortable with him at 51. If he can avoid the huge knee injury, the Bucs get a top 5 talent
52.) New York Giants: Marvin Austin DT, North Carolina
-The Giants have a strong defensive line but why not make it even stronger by adding Marvin Austin. Austin was a first round pick before his year long suspension for off the field issues. He does have character concerns and his maturity is also in question. But he is a great football player with good quickness and can be a force off the line. Good pick for the Giants if they can help him mature.
53.) (TRADE) Chicago Bears Stephen Paea DT, Oregon State
- The Bears released Tommie Harris earlier in the off season and really need a replacement for him. Paea who broke the record for most bench press reps at the combine is a strong powerful force. He can give the Bears a strong presence up the middle and use his strength to his advantage. He needs to work on breaking off of linemen but he will be a solid player
54.) Philadelphia Eagles Jaiquawn Jarrett S, Temple
-The Eagles got a stud when they drafted Nate Allen last year. A safety with range who would go up and get the ball and really rack up the interceptions. Now with the addition of Jarrett you are talking about a guy who can be a big run stopper and dish out the hits. He will end up being a solid SS for the Eagles defense, and one the Philly fans will love.
55.) Kansas City Chiefs: Rodney Hudson OG,
-The Chiefs continue to get older at the OG position, and they needed to find a new replacement. Hudson is a very strong run blocker who can play the G or C position and will help open holes for JC.
56.) (TRADE) New England Patriots: Shane Vareen RB, California
-The Patriots love to have a utility back who can help on screens, short passes and for long yardage runs. Vereen appears to be the replacement for Kevin Faulk and gives the Patriots a pass catcher out of the backfield.
57.) (TRADE) Detroit Lions Mikel Leshoure RB, Illinois
-Jahvid Best struggled with injury last year and Kevin Smith may be done as a RB in Detroit. Leshoure is a workhorse RB who can really carry the load when he needs to. He possesses all around skills you look for and can be a touchdown vulture in Detroit
58.) Baltimore Ravens:Torrey Smith WR, Maryland
-The Ravens have had no luck drafting a WR in recent years. Anquan Boldin acquired via the trade was a nice addition, and Derrick Mason still has some left in the tank. Smith is a tireless worker with a great attitude and a coaches favorite. He can step into the 3rd receiver spot and develop into a good No.2 WR
59 (TRADE) Cleveland Browns: Greg Little WR, North Carolina
-Colt McCoy needs targets to throw to and Greg Little is a good guy to have. Little has great hands and has shown strength when shrugging off defenders. He will develop into a trusted target for McCoy to throw to
60.) (TRADE) Houston Texans: Brandon Harris CB, Miami
-The Houston Texans were atrocious in the secondary last year, and they needed to address that early in the draft. Harris knock is his size at only 5'10. He still has solid coverage skills, and I think can be a starting CB for the Texans
61.) (TRADE)  San Diego Chargers: Jonas Mouton LB, Michigan
-The Chargers need 3-4  ILB, and Mouton can hopefully be that guy.  Has shown nice foot speed anc can also shed blockers to get to the ball carrier. He is a smart football player who is also decent in coverage. Could be a nice fix for the empty spot at ILB
62.) (TRADE) Miami Dolphins: Daniel Thomas RB, Kansas State
-With the likely departure of Ronnie Brown and Ricky Williams, the Dolphins have a gaping hole at the RB position. Thomas is a talented RB who runs with low pads, and has shown he can be a good talented RB. He has good toughness but needs to work on holding onto the football. Thomas will likely be the Dolphins starting RB in 2011
63.) Pittsburgh Steelers: Marcus Gilbert OT, Florida
-The Steelers struggled in the Super Bowl last year and Ben Roethlisberger suffered because of it. Gilbert is a massive of a player who has the versatility to play at G or T. The Steelers get a guy who can start at RT or any of the G positions, which is exactly what they need.
64.) Green Bay Packers: Randall Cobb WR, Kentucky
-The rich continue to get richer and the scariest offense in the NFL gets scarier. Cobb gives the Green Bay Packers a replacement for James Jones who is a FA. Cobb also gives the Packers an excellent return man which they so desperately needed. A very good value and need pick for the Packers
