Atlanta Falcons selections:
1st round (6): Julio Jones WR, Alabama
3rd round (91): Akeem Dent OLB, Georgia
5th round (145): Jacquizz Rodgers RB, Oregon State
6th round (192): Matt Bosher K, Miami
7th round (210): Andrew Jackson OG, Fresno State
7th round (230): Cliff Matthews OLB, South Carolina
Impact rookie: Julio Jones WR, Alabama
-When your offensive needs another big time play maker, you have to have the guts to go and get him. Giving up their first rounder and 2nd rounder in 2011 along with their 2012 first rounder. But they got Julio Jones who while he won't be the top receiver for the Falcons, he will be a dynamic play maker. With Jones and White, it gives Matt Ryan one of the best receivers in the league. It will make things easier for him and it will also take some of the double teams away from Roddy White
Pick for the Future: Jacquizz Rodgers RB, Oregon State
-Rodgers is an electrifying back who showed in college he can be a true home run threat. He has good instincts and has the speed and agility to miss tacklers. His biggest negative is his small size, which is why he fell to the 4th round. He can be the Falcons 3rd down back, and be a good player for screens and dump offs. When Turner does start to wear down in the future, Rodgers has shown he can handle a heavy workload and that will only help his career in the future
Questionable Selection: Matt Bosher, K Miami
-OK so this may be a bit of a stretch, but while Kickers are people to, I don't exactly understand this pick. Matt Bryant was 28/31 for FG's last year and he was very solid. He is 35 years old, but he still should have a few good years ahead of him. Bosher is young and very accurate, but taking a Kicker in the 6th round when you already have one is a bit of a question mark to me.
Draft Grade: B+
-I loved the Falcons trading up for Julio Jones, because he gives them that other dynamic receiver they needed to pair with Roddy White. Trading up for Jacquizz Rodgers in the 4th was also a fantastic move that will give that great offense another home run threat. Dent could turn into a nice MLB for them, but I don't think he will turn into much more. A very nice draft for the Falcons giving them one of the best offenses in the league. Defense still needs more work, which is why they fall short of an A
