Sacramento Kings given one more year to get a stadium deal

After months and months of fans chanting at Arco Arena "Here We Stay" all the meetings and events planned to show team support. Then all the work put in by Sacramento Mayor Kevin Johnson and his staff to keep the Kings. It all came down to the decision made on Monday by Joe and Gavin Maloof. A reluctant decision was made to keep the team in Sacramento for another year as the NBA informed them as of now they don't have the votes to move. Now with the Kings staying at least one more year, what can we expect to see this season.
The Kings finished the season with the 5th worst record in the NBA. They will have a 7.6% chance of getting the No.1 pick, but if history repeats itself they wont sniff the top 3. Assuming they stay at the 5th pick they could take the super scorer in kemba Walker out of UConn, or they could go with Brandon Knight who improved his play as a PG late in the season. They have needs at C, PG and they need a 3 point shooter. Beno Udrih is a solid player but is he a starting PG. Geoff petrie has been solid in the draft, so whatever he does it will likely be a good pick. Another issue heading into the off season is impending free agent Marcus Thornton. Thornton who was acquired in the Carl Landry trade, averaged 21 ppg in his short time with the Kings, and that included playing with Tyreke Evans later in the season. The Kings also need to resign Samuel Dalembert and if they do, they still have plenty of cap space to spend. Possible targets could include J.R Smith, Nene, Wilson Chandler, Marc Gasol, Deandre Jordan. Alla re affordable options who could have a significant impact on a improving Kings team
The real question though is what will the process be off the court by the mayor, the Maloofs and the city to construct a solid plan for a new stadium. I think Kevin Johnson and the city of Sacramento have finally stepped forward and a new plan will be put in concrete. I think the dedication has been shown and with a full year (and maybe longer with an impending NBA Lockout) they should have enough time to build the setup. It will come down to the Maloofs in the end though. They have been and will be reluctant to spend their money but they still want ownership of the stadium which is problematic
In the end I think the Sacramento Kings stay the Sacramento Kings for good. IF the front office can have a solid draft and add a 3 point shooter and passing PG, while adding a guy like Marc Gasol/Nene/Deandre Jordan and maybe include a J.R Smith. The Kings could be in competition for the 8th seed in the West next year, but it will all be interesting to see what goes down. Stay tuned.....
