Impact Rookie: Randall Cobb WR, Kentucky
Cobb was a electrifying player for Kentucky in his 4 years there. As a freshman he was voted as Freshman All-American. He was moved to WR as Sophmore and also served as the teams return man. Coming in as a rookie Cobb can give the Packers an excellent returner, which they have so desperately needed. Also with James Jones a free agent and Donald Driver getting into his late 30's they needed a new option. Cobb can play the slot well and be a very nice 4th WR for the team that is already loaded on offense. As long as Cobb can use his skills well he will finish as one of the best rookie playmakers this year
Pick for the Future: Derek Sherrod OT, Mississippi State
-While the BPA in the 1st round is not usually a player for the future, Sherrod seems to be an exception. Sherrod is a very good pass blocker who uses his finesse moves and athleticism to protect the QB. He still needs to make major strides by bulking up to defend agaisnt stronger pass rushers, and he also needs work on keeping his leverage at the point of attack. Once he irons out his weaknesses, he should be more then ready to replace the aging Chad Clifton and be a great blindside protector
Questionable Pick: Ryan Taylor FB, North Carolina
-While Taylor was taken in the 7th round this is a pick that leaves you scratching your head a little bit. Taylor dealt with knee injuries at North Carolina and also didn't put up numbers you would like to see from an H back. He is a very good special teams player which will probally be his only role with the Packers, and if the theory is true that Ted Thompson used these late picks as his undrafted free agents it makes a little more sense to me. But when you have John Kuhn, Korey Hall and the more talented D.J Williams the pick is a little odd
Draft Grade: B+
-Overall a very solid draft for the Packers especially with being at the last pick of each Round and not trading up. They filled the holes they needed and drafted for the future needs of the team. They also have 15 players coming off the IR, which adds a whole new dimension to their team in 2011
This is the 1st of the 32 team draft reports I will be doing, and I hope all NFL Fans come back to see what their team got. If you want to share your opinion feel free to in the comments apge, I always lvoe to discuss football
