With NFL Network doing a Top 100 players list, and ESPN following that up with their Top 10 players in the NFL. I have decided to do my own list. Top 10 players of each position. So lets start this thing off. Feel free to share your comments if you agree, disagree and share who you think should our shouldn't be on this list.
If Rodgers can lead his team to another Super Bowl, he could take the No.2 spot |
QB
1.) Tom Brady QB, New England Patriots
2.) Peyton Manning QB, Indianapolis Colts
3.) Aaron Rodgers QB, Green Bay Packers
4.) Drew Brees QB, New Orleans Saints5.) Ben Roethlisberger QB, Pittsburgh Steelers
6.) Phillip Rivers QB, San Diego Chargers7.) Michael Vick QB, Philadelphia Eagles
8.) Joe Flacco QB, Baltimore Ravens
9.) Matt Ryan QB, Atlanta Falcons
10.) Josh Freeman QB, Tampa Bay Buccaneers
-Tom Brady takes the top spot after a incredible year last year, in which he had a 9-1 TD/INT ratio. Peyton Manning stays at 2 but Super Bowl MVP Aaron Rodgers could very well pass him up if the Packers repeat as Super Bowl Champions. There are several young QB's on this list, and also 8 of the teams with a Top 10 QB made the playoffs.
RB
1.) Adrian Peterson RB, Minnesota Vikings
2.) Arian Foster RB, Houston Texans
Arian Foster did everything last year in rout to 16 TD's on the season, can he do it again? |
5.) Maurice Jones-Drew RB, Jacksonville Jaguars
6.) Michael Turner RB, Atlanta Falcons
7.) Steven Jackson RB, St. Louis Rams
8.) Rashard Mendenhall RB, Pittsburgh Steelers
9.) Ray Rice RB, Baltimore Ravens
10.) Darren McFadden RB, Oakland Raiders
-Adrian Peterson is arguably the best RB in the NFL right now. Even with his fumble issues he does everything you could ask for a RB except holding onto the football. Arian Foster has come out of nowhere and was the best RB in the NFL last year leading in yards and TD's. Jamaal Charles is on the rise, while CJ2K has fallen. A great Top 10 with all 10 players capable of handling a full work load.
WR
1.) Larry Fitzgerald WR, Arizona Cardinals
2.) Andre Johnson WR, Houston Texans
4.) Roddy White WR, Atlanta Falcons
5.) Greg Jennings WR, Green Bay Packers
6.) Reggie Wayne WR, Indianapolis Colt
7.) Dwayne Bowe WR, Kansas City Chiefs
8.) Desean Jackson WR, Philadelphia Eagles
9.) Mike Wallace WR, Pittsburgh Steelers
10.) Brandon Lloyd WR, Denver Broncos
-The decision to go with Larry Fitzgerald or Andre Johnson is a coin flip. Fitzgerald is more talented and if the Cardinals get Kevin Kolb he will be better. They are both the two best WR's in the NFL. The next 2 guys on the list all broke out last year all having 10 TD's or more along with 1,100 yards or more receiving. After an outstanding year Dwayne Bowe climbs into the Top 10 and long time veteran Brandon Lloyd finds his way in as well.
1.) Antonip Gates TE, San Diego Chargers
2.) Jason Witten TE, Dallas Cowboys
3.) Vernon Davis TE, San Francisco 49ers
4.) Dallas Clark TE, Indianapolis Colts
5.) Tony Gonzalez TE, Atlanta Falcons
6.) Chris Cooley TE, Washington Redskins
7.) Marcedes Lewis TE, Jacksonville Jaguars
8.) Kellen Winslow TE, Tampa Bay Buccaneers
9.) Jermichael Finley TE, Green Bay Packers
10.) Brandon Pettigrew TE, Detroit Lions
-After the Top 6 or 7 is where the list gets a bit cloudy. Winslow was productive last year and showed he still has some of that greatness in him that we saw in his early Cleveland years. Jermichael Finley was injured all last year but showed prior to that he can create match up problems for defenses. Brandon Pettigrew is another up and comer, and will see his production increase if Matthew Stafford can stay healthy.
8.) Andre Gurode C, Dallas Cowboys
9.) D'Brickshaw Ferguson OT, New York Jets
DT
8.) Amobi Okoye DT, Houston Texans
9.) Jason Jones DT, Tennessee Titans
10.) Sedrick Ellis DT, New Orleans Saints
-Another list of Top 10 lineman, with a few high profile names, then some younger guys who have built somewhat of a name for themselves. Suh is the best DT in the NFl and only in his sophomore year will get better as he progresses. B.J Raji showed in the playoffs what a force he can be, and Jason Jones has helped Titans fans forget about Big Albert.
DE
1.) Demarcus Ware DE, Dallas Cowboys
2.) Julius Peppers DE, Chicago Bears
3.) Mario Williams DE, Houston Texans
4.) Dwight Freeney DE, Indianapolis Colts
5.) Justin Tuck DE, New York Giants
6.) Jared Allen DE, Minnesota Vikings
7.) Robert Mathis DE, Indianapolis Colts
8.) John Abraham DE, Atlanta Falcons
9.) LaMarr Woodley DE, Pittsburgh Steelers
10.) Tamba Hali DE, Kansas City Chiefs
-My Top 10 list of DE's starts off with Demarcus Ware. He is the best at getting after the QB, and he never misses a game. Mario Williams will be moving to OLB but his skills as a DE are unquestioned. The Colts have two of the best DE's in the NFL who are great at forcing fumbles. A great Top 10 list of the best DE's in the NFL
LB
1.) Clay Matthews LB, Green Bay Packers
5.) Jerod Mayo LB, New England Patriots
6.) Jon Beason LB, Carolina Panthers
7.) Jonathan Vilma LB, New Orleans Saints
8.) Derrick Johnson LB, Kansas City Chiefs
9.) Brian Urlacher LB, Chicago Bears
10.) Terrell Suggs LB, Baltimore Ravens
-Clay Matthews takes the top spot after another fantastic season even though he fell just short of D.P.O.Y. Patrick Willis is the best tackler in the game and is only getting better as he gets older. Ray Lewis is in the Top 5 because of his outstanding leadership capabilities, and for his production at an older age. Guys like Jerod Mayo and Derrick Johnson are on the rise, while Brian Urlacher is slowly declining with age.
Teams with Most players in Top 10:
Green Bay Packers: 9

7.) Jeff Saturday C, Indianapolis Colts8.) Andre Gurode C, Dallas Cowboys
9.) D'Brickshaw Ferguson OT, New York Jets
10.) Josh Sitton OG, Green Bay Packers
-The position that gets the least recognition in the NFL still deserves their own Top 10. Jake Long gets the top spot for being the best offensive lineman in the NFL. The top 4 players are all in their 20's while guys like Jeff Saturday, Andre Gurode are starting to slip down on the list. Josh Sitton does not get alot of recognition, but he has been one of the best in the NFL.
DT
At the age of 24 Suh is already the best DT in the NFL |
1.) Ndamukong Suh DT, Detroit Lions

DE
Peppers not only gets after the QB, he also excels at getting OL to jump early |
2.) Julius Peppers DE, Chicago Bears
3.) Mario Williams DE, Houston Texans
4.) Dwight Freeney DE, Indianapolis Colts
5.) Justin Tuck DE, New York Giants
6.) Jared Allen DE, Minnesota Vikings

LB
Since coming into the NFL as a rookie Willis has led the league in tackles. |
2.) Patrick Willis LB, San Francisco 49ers
3.) James Harrison LB, Pittsburgh Steelers
4.) Ray Lewis LB, Baltimore Ravens5.) Jerod Mayo LB, New England Patriots
6.) Jon Beason LB, Carolina Panthers
7.) Jonathan Vilma LB, New Orleans Saints

CB
1.) Nnamdi Asomugha CB, Free Agent'
2.) Charles Woodson CB, Green Bay Packers
Wherever Asomugha signs he will immediately be a difference maker for the defense. |
3.) Champ Bailey CB, Denver Broncos
4.) Darrele Revis CB, New York Jets
5.) Asante Samuel CB, Philadelphia Eagles
6.) Brandon Flowers CB, Kansas City Chiefs
7.) Tramon Williams CB, Green Bay Packers 8.) Devin McCourty CB, New England Patriots
9.)Vontae Davis CB, Miami Dolphins
9.)Vontae Davis CB, Miami Dolphins
10.) Sean Smith CB, Miami Dolphins
-The best CB in the league is a Free Agent and will be desired by every team in the NFL. The top 4 CB's all are known for their coverage skills The breakout players of 2010 Tramon Williams, Brandon Flowers and Vontae Davis rose into the Top 10. One of my personal favorites Sean Smith is a good coverage guy and could have had *+ interceptions last year if not for easy drops.
S
6.) Antoine Bethea S, Indianapolis Colts
7.) Adrian Wilson S, Arizona Cardinals
8.) Malcolm Jenkins S, New Orleans Saints
9.) O.J Atogewe S, Washington Redskins
10.) Brandon Meriweather S, New England Patriots
-Troy Polamalu has been and will be the best Safety in the league for a few more years, he is defending D.P.O.Y, he is a leader and he can make plays with ease. Ed Reed missed 1/4 of the season but still managed to pick off 9 passes. The young kid Eric Berry had an immediate impact as a rookie, and could make a push into the Top 3 by the end of the year.
S
